KABUL (Pajhwok): The private sectors of Afghanistan and Kazakhstan have signed contracts worth over $100 million, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced on Thursday.

The deals were inked at a meeting in Astana, where the Afghan delegation was led byMinister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi.

Zhumangarin Serek, the deputy prime minister and minister of trade and integration, headed the Kazakh delegates, according to the Commerce Ministry here.

The two sides conferred on the outcome of trade communication meetings and the holding of the joint Afghan-Kazakhexhibition.

Bilateral transit and trade facilities, banking links, new technology for irrigation management and water conservation were among the topics discussed.

Logistics centers Aqina and Torghondaiports, the Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce in Herat, the cost of transporting goods and an increase in investments also came up for discussion.

At bilateral business meetings, the ministry added, the private sectors of the two countries inked contracts worth more than $100 million.
