ASADABAD (Pajhwok): One person was killed and two others injured as a result of overnight flash floods in most parts of eastern Kunar province, according to an official and local residents on Saturday.
Tens of homes, hundreds acres of agriculture land, check dams and roads were also destroyed due to the natural disaster, the residents said.
Ehsanullah Ehsan, a senior official of the Natural Disaster Management Department, said one person was killed and two others injured due to overnight flash floods in the Asadabad, Shaigal, Sarkano, Watapur, Khas Kunar and Nurgal disricts.
He said: “According to our information one person was killed in Asadabad’s Hadwal area while two people were injured in Zaski area.”
He said 73 homes had been damaged partially, hundreds acres of agriculture land, check dams and roads were also damaged.
The victims have asked the government and aid providing organizations for support.
Abdul Wahab, the resident of Sarkano area, said: “My house was totally destroyed due to last night flash flood asking the government for support in rebuilding shelter.”
This comes that the country’s Met Office have warned against heavy rainfall, thunderstorm and flash floods in eight provinces of the country.
