KABUL (Pajhwok): Four members of an Afghan family have lost their lives after inhaling a toxic gas in a septic tank in Iran’s southern city of Shiraz, says a media report.
The Afghan workers died after one of them was trapped inside the septic tank and the others tried to rescue him in the Gachi village of the city.
Iranian media outlets quoted Hadi Eidipour, the Shiraz municipality’s fire service head, as saying firefighters and rescue teams were sent to the area.
The incident is believed to have occurred at a plastic waste collection centre, where five Afghan workers were trapped inside the septic well.
Four of them died while a fifth survived and is currently undergoing medical treatment at a hospital. The victims included a 64-year-old man and his three sons.
