KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Sciences Academy (ASA) has established a translation centre, completed 46 research projects, published 36 magzines, 246 articles, and 33 books in different fields last year, an official said on Monday.

ASA Secretary General Dr.Rafiullah Niazi, told reports here that last year 46 academic and research projects had been completed while currently 167 projects ongoing.

He also said the ASA last year printed 36 magazines and 246 articles as well.

Niazi said the ASA last year organized 83 academic and research conferences, in addition, six national research seminars were also organized.

He said 33 books in different fields were also published by the ASA.

Niazi said last year a Dari translation centre was also established in which 31 items had been translated out of which 8 had been published.

He said 31 items were translated to Dari, Pashto, Urdu, Arabic and English keeping in consideration its importance.

The translation centre initially had 10 posts while recently five more post had been added and all the employees are doctorate degree holders.

Niazi added the ASA currently has 521 posts in which 304 were academic, 118 were administrative and 99 were professional and technical posts.

He, however, said considering the population of Afghanistan and the amount of issues on which research should be conducted the existing human resource power of the ASA was not sufficient and demanded the induction of at least 50 more posts.

Mawlavi Ameer Jan Saqib, deputy head of the ASA, said besides challenges and problems the ASA have achievements.

He said currently the ASA has great achievements and asked the cadres outside the country to return to Afghanistan.
