FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Around 10,000 families in the Gulistan district of western Farah province have no access to health services, an official said on Monday.
Mullah Abdul Haq Din Mohammad, deputy Public Health Department director, told Pajhwok Afghan News around 10,000 families lived in the Joga, Laman and Syed Hawa areas of Gulistan district but they are without basic health facilities.
He said currently four permanent and two mobile health centres are functional for Gulistan district and two more health services would be added in the future.
Some residents in Gulistan district also complained that they have no access to basic health services.
Esmatullah, the resident of Zarai Kala area, said they have no access to health services in their area.
He said they lived in a mountainous area, adding that it took up to four hours on motorcycle to reach to a clinic in district centre, sometimes sick people are lost on their way to the clinic.
Naqibullah, the resident of Syed Hawa area, said their locality was 30 kilometres far from the district centre and they have no access to health services.
He asked the government to create a health centre in their area and provide health services to the people.
Abdul Khaliq, the resident of Joga area said over 3,000 families lived in their area but they don’t have access to health services.
He said they were 30 kilometres away from the district centre and transferring sick people to the district centre was difficult.
It is pertinent to mention that due to the past 40 years of conflict, the country’s health sector had been affected like other institutions.
