Current jihad is for Shariah enforcement, says Haqqani

KABUL (Pajhwok): The acting interior minister has underlined the need for the enforcement of Islamic Shariah in the country.

Sirajuddin Haqqani, addressing religious scholars, tribal elders and local officials in eastern Laghman province, also made a pitch for national unity.

“Those who have opted to stay in Afghanistan are the people caring for the nation. They deserve to be encouraged and provided with employment,” the minister remarked.

The ongoing jihad in Afghanistan was aimed at the implementation of the Shariah law and the reconstruction of the country, he added.
