500kg of ephedra plant found, destroyed in Farah

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Security forces seized and destroyed 500 kilograms of ephedra plant in Pur Chaman district of western Farah province, an official said on Wednesday.

Maulvi Abdul Hai Sabawoon, Farah information and culture director, told Pajhwok Afghan News security forces confiscated 500kg of ephedra plant during an operation in a mountainous area in Awlima village of the district on Tuesday.

He added some people had collected ephedra in a mountain and wanted to transfer it to another place to make drugs from it, but security forces found and destroyed it.

No one has been arrested in connection with the seizure, he added.

It should be noted that the plant is used in making crystal meth drug.
