FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): The process of collecting worn-out 10, 20, 50 and 100 afghani banknotes has been launched in western Ghor province, an official said in Wednesday.
Abdul Wahid Hamas, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the collection of worn-out banknotes was launched today (Wednesday) and the process would continue until the end of current month.
“The provincial government has asked all traders, businessmen and ordinary people to be cooperative with the government in this process and present their ragged and worn out bills for exchange”.
Ghor residents appreciated the collection of worn out banknotes.
Abdul Ghani, a resident of Ferozkoh city, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “There is plenty of worn-out notes circulating in the markets, such decrepit bills should be collected and replaced with new ones to prevent problems, believe me many shopkeepers do not accept such ragged notes”.
Noor Habib, another resident, was also thrilled at the launch of the old banknotes’ collection process, saying worn-out banknotes created problems for residents.
Noor Habib added: “This is a good step and we thank the government for it, because no one accepts worn out money in the markets”.
Residents who talked to Pajhwok stressed that a nationwide collection of worn out banknotes should be started.
