KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 2,000 Afghan refugees returned from Iran on Wednesday and 663 of them were introduced to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for assistance, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) says.
MoRR tweeted today (Thursday) that 2,100 Afghan immigrants returned from Iran via Islam Qala port yesterday.
The ministry said 663 entitled and needy refugees were introduced to the local office of IOM to get assistance.
It is worth mentioning that MoRR officials yesterday said over 952,000 Afghan refugees returned to the country during the past one year and over 1,000 of them were introduced to educational institutions to study.
Speaking at the Accountability to the Nation Program, the MoRR officials said 1,000 Afghan refugees in foreign countries were sent to Saudi Arabia to perform the hajj pilgrimage.
