FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): The excavation process of four big natural reservoirs would soon start in western Ghor province while three more Lead and Zinc mines would be offered for bidding, an official said on Sunday.
Ghor Petroleum and Mining Department Head Mawlavi Abdul Hakim Akhund told Pajhwok Afghan News after the takeover by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) 180 mines had been registered by the technical teams of the Mining ministry in Ghor.
“Out of 180 mines that have been mined in this province, four big mines of Leed and Zing are located in the Tawlak and Shahrak districts the contract of which was recently signed by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum with the Afghan Invest company, and the mining process will begin soon.”
The source said that three more mines would be also soon offered for bidding.
Besides these developments, two blocks of marble mine, coal and Gaj in Tawlak also offered for bidding.
One salt and Gaj mine in Shahrak district also offered for bidding.
He said in line with the direction from the IEA leadership the revenue generated from mines are spent on the welfare and development of Ghor people.
