TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Some residents of northern Takhar province say increasing insecurity and cases of mysterious murders have worried them, but security officials assure of efforts to control crimes.
Abdul Sami Khawri, a resident of the provincial capital Taloqan, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Unfortunately we witnessed armed incidents during the past month in which civilians were targeted and killed by unidentified people”.
He said such incidents had worried residents who wanted the government to further tighten security and allow no one to disrupt security.
Saadullah, another resident, told Pajhwok that security measures currently put in place were insufficient to prevent crimes.
He added: “Some people were killed in broad daylight and others in night time in some districts, which have terrified local people”.
He said the people had witnessed long wars in the past and now they wanted to live in peace and the government should not allow anyone to create insecurity again.
However, Jan Aqa, another resident of Takhar, said security measures were reasonable and people could move with freedom during day and night, but some incidents of insecurity had worried people.
He said the people stood by the government and they expected the government would allow no one to breach security.
Abdul Khaliq, a security official, accepted mysterious murders had increased compared to the past, but said special measures had been taken to prevent such incidents.
They registered four cases of mysterious murders in different parts of the province during the past one month and arrested the perpetrators, the official said.
