Logar wood market fire causes huge losses

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A fire has broken out at the wood market in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital of central Logar province, resulting in heavy financial losses.

Mansoor Omar, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blaze erupted near the southern gate to the market on Monday night. It was jointly extinguished by firefighters and security forces.

He said no one was hurt in the fire, but the incident caused financial losses to the people. But exact figures of losses are yet to be known.

Pul-i-Alam resident Roohullah told Pajhwok the overnight blaze had inflicted heavy losses on people.

He added three wood and two carpentry shops were completely gutted in the fire, which caused losses of hundreds of thousands of afghanis.

Roohullah asked the government to survey the losses and compensate the effected people.
