‘SAO audited over 340 cases last year’

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Supreme Audit Office (SAO) has probed over 340 cases, including 26 cases of corruption and misuse of authority, recovered over 33 million afs and $2.6 million last year, an official said on Wednesday.

Fazullah Nizami, professional advisor of the SAO, told reporter here besides the financial audit of 2020 last year 343 audits have been conducted in 280 places in Kabul and provinces.

He said last year, as a result of the investigation, this department found 6.4 billion Afghanis and $11 million as received by to the Emirate treasury. Amount 6. 24 billion afs and $3.53 is labeled as cleared.

The amount alrady registered in this SAO for audit were investigated to for the satisfaction purpose in which 33 million afs and $2.6 million included to the state treasured while 3.119 million cleared during the past one year.

Nizami said: “In the financial year of 1401, the audit department conducted an investigation of institutions based on the orders of Amir al-Mominin and directives of Prime Minister Office in cooperation with other departments, and shared the results of the investigation and recommendation to the relevant authority.”

Referring to transparency and accountability in SAO last year, he said 26 incident of misuse of authority, embezzlement, and forgery related to last year fiscal year had been registered.

Nizami said this year 93 audit cases landed in his organization out of which 86 had been addressed and its result would be later shared.
