Strategy required to re-locate displaced persons: UNOCHA

KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) has stressed over an organized strategy for the return of displaced persons, according to the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) on its twitter handle wrote that Mohammad Khatir Zaid, deputy head of the UNOCHA said this during a meeting with Sardar Mohammad Sherzad, deputy minister of Refugees and Repatriation.

On its Twitter handle the MoRR quoted Mawlavi Sherzad as saying: “Our common task is to solve the problems of the displaced, it is time for more cooperation for the vulnerable section of the society, and this refugees ministry is working hard to move all the vulnerable families back to their original neighborhoods and provinces according to the plan in the future.”

He said in line with the direction of the IEA and your cooperation 8,000 displaced families from Parks and other places had been taken back to their places of origin and the return of more families was also planned but flash floods and earthquake affected the process.

UNOCHA deputy director was quoted as saying: “There was need for an organized policy to ensure the return of displaced persons to their families.”

He demanded the formation of a joint committee to increase cooperation and coordination in this regard.

This comes that the UNOCHA on its Twitter handle stated $558.4 million was urgently required for winter preparedness activities and $189 million was needed for preposition supplies.

In its winter humanitarian plane the organization prioritized 137 districts.
