LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The installation of solar street lights has kicked off on a main road in southern Helmand province, an official said on Thursday.
Maulvi Muhammad Qasim Riaz, deputy director of information and culture, told Pajhwok Afghan News the scheme would be completed in 20 days.
The lights are being installed on the 128 kilometres long between the Banadar area of Garmser district and Bahramchi district centre.
Without reveal the cost of the project, the official said the road also led to Pakistan, used by passengers and patients, as well as commercial vehicles.
Riza hoped with the installation of solar lights on the road, passengers would be facilitated.
