ATLANTA (Pajhwok): Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leader Manzoor Pashteen has threatened to raise their voice for independence from Pakistan if the rights of Pashtuns are not protected and atrocities against them not stopped.
Addressing a big rally in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, Pashteen severely criticized the Pakistan Army for what he said usurping the mineral assets of Pashtuns and deliberately creating insecurity in their areas.
He said from Bajaur to Swat, Quetta and Waziristan, thousands of Pashtun leaders had been killed or maimed by the Pakistani army.
He also added that hundreds of their supporters were arrested on their way to Islamabad in order to prevent them from participating in the demonstration.
Pashteen asked the rally participants to organize the movement in their villages.
He threatened if their demands were not accepted, they would come to Islamabad in a different form next time.
He described the Pakistani military generals as ‘goons’ and said they had formed their own group to rule Pakistan.
He strongly criticized the ongoing terrorism, targeted killings, enforced disappearances and the increasing role of the army in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan provinces.
He said people in the Pashtun areas of Swat, Bunir, Dir, Peshawar, Bajaur, Momand, Khyber, Waziristan, Qala Saifullah and Quetta were being targeted.
