QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Residents of Ghormach district of Badghis province are complaining about lack of equipped health centers, but the Public Health Department says it has taken action to solve the problem.

Sultan Ahmad, a resident of Ghormach district, told Pajhwok Afghan News that there was no well-equipped health center in the district.

He said the health centers in their area lacked necessary medical facilities, equipment and specialist doctors.

“The available clinic has no facilities, we are far away from the center and the road to our district is in a dilapidated condition, we often take our patients to Faryab, we expect the government will open a well-equipped clinic for us,” he added.

Noorullah, another resident, said: “So far no attention has been paid to our district, we don’t have a good clinic and right doctor, and we want the government to provide us with proper and well-equipped clinics and specialist doctors.”

Dr. Mohammad Yaqub Sina, a pediatric internal medicine specialist in Badghis, told Pajhwok that many diseases, including high blood pressure, respiratory diseases and heart diseases threatened people’s lives if not provided medical attention on time.

“People suffering from chronic diseases need to go to medical centers as soon as possible, even some diseases require minutes to visit a doctor and be treated, if they do not reach the clinic, the patient will die”.

Department of Public Health officials confirmed the lack of well-equipped medical centers in Ghormach district.

Dr. Ajab Khan Hamidi, Deputy Director of Public Health, said that there were two healthcare centers in the district, but they could not meet the needs of the densely populated district.

He said: “We have shared this problem with the center and the Ghormach clinic will be upgraded, we are trying to solve the problems of the residents of Ghormach district”.
