TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Acting Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani has asked civil and military officials of central Uruzgan province to be submissive and give priority to serving the people.
Haqqani arrived in Tirinkot, the provincial capital, yesterday with a delegation and met local government officials and tribal elders from some districts.
“We took pride in our struggle against the enemy, but after the victory, it is now necessary to turn to humility instead of pride,” the minister told the officials.
“Do not use inappropriate words against those who did not fight in support of the Islamic Emirate.”
He believed positive interaction with these people would eventually turn the negative mindset regarding the Islamic Emirate into a positive one.
Haqqani said he visited Uruzgan to see the people closely and appreciate their sacrifices and listen to their problems.
He promised more attention to implementation of public welfare projects in Uruzgan, saying construction works of Agha Jan dam would be launched in the near future and the Uruzgan-Kandahar highway would also be constructed.
The interior minister also pledged more attention to health and education and establishing new education and health centers.
He said the Islamic Emirate desired good interaction with the world for the sake of the people, not for itself.
Uruzgan residents also welcomed Haqqani’s promises and demanded more attention to the development of the province.
