PARON (Pajhwok): A dozen houses, including a historic one, were burnt in a fire in Kamdesh village of eastern Nuristan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Jamlullah Hashimi, Information and Culture department official, said the fire boke out at 3pm yesterday (Tuesday) in Mandagul village of Kamdesh district.
According to him, the historic house was almost three hundred years old and had different types of wooden flower beds.
Hashimi said: “The old house showed the art and historical signs of Nuristan, but unfortunately it was completely destroyed”.
Rahmatullah, a resident, said an electric short-circuit caused the fire that gutted 13 houses and caused heavy financial losses to the people.
According to officials, Mandagul village is located near Landai River in Kamdesh district and many of its houses are made of wood.
