PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The maiden shipment of goods from China to Afghanistan via the Khunjerab border has arrived in Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan province.
Bound for Kabul, the inaugural shipment commenced its journey from China’s Kashgar city and entered Pakistan through the Khunjerab Pass.
An inaugural ceremony took place at Sost Dry Port and was attended by GB Customs Collector Syed Fawad Ali Shah, Transit Trade Director for Peshawar Arbab Qaiser, officials and trade representatives.
The transit route is seen as cutting travel time almost by 70 per cent and slashing logistics costs by 30pc. The reduced time and cost of moving goods will help create positive trade diversion.
