Use of foreign currencies to be fully banned: Badri

KABUL (Pajhwok): The use of foreign currencies would be completely banned and local currency would be fully become effective during transactions in the southwestern zone of the country in the next two and half months, an official said on Tuesday.

Haseebullah Noori, spokesperson of the Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) said that ADB Acting Head Hidayatullah Badri made the comment during a gathering in Kandahar City.

The gathering was held to discuss the empowerment of banking sector and encourage the use of local currency, he added.

“Banning the use of foreign currencies in the local markets is a gradual process in which the cooperation of all institutions and honorable people of the country is required,” said Badri.

Kandahar Governor Haji Mullah Sherin Akhund Afghani is a stable and valuable currency in the region.

He asked the people, industrialists, businessmen and traders to use Afghani currency in their transaction and work for its promotion.

This comes that in some provinces and southwestern zone of the country people are using foreign currencies in their transactions.
