Former generals, academicians, lawmakers issued security cards

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Commission to contact Afghan Personalities says it has issued security cards to a number of former lawmakers, generals and academic figures in the country.

The commission wrote on X it had given security cards to a number of former members of the parliament, generals and academic figures of the previous administration.

The commission’s secretariat head Maulvi Zakir said the Islamic Emirate was trying to provide safe ways of life to former political figures remaining in the country.

He added that the cards were distributed to former politicians based on the panel’s new procedure and politicians remaining in the country could obtain the cards.

The commission spokesman, Ahmadullah Wasiq told Pajhwok that it was ‘a card of trust’ and its recipients could travel to all parts of Afghanistan and they would face no threats or problems.

“The privilege of the card is that many people try to harass former officials on different pretexts and make unproven claims against them, but if they have this card, then people cannot directly make allegations against these people or move the court against them.”

He added if anyone had legal or other claim against these people, they had to first share it with the Contact Commission to resolve the issue.

He said no one could harass those having the card because they had been forgiven.

After the political change in the country, some Afghan politicians and officials of the previous government went to foreign countries, but some returned with efforts of the Contact Commission.
