PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A leading university in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has announced scholarships for Afghan women.
The Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKU) in Mardan said it had granted 50 fully-funded scholarships for female Afghan students.
A statement from the university said the scholarships were meant for students at the intermediate and undergraduate levels.
It added the decision came at a meeting of the Board of Management of the Welfare Endowment Fund.
Vice Chancellor Dr Zahoorul Haq chaired the meeting, which was attended by Director of Finance Dr Shaista Irshad, Director of Admissions Dr. Majid and others.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan *IEA) has suspended education for girls above the sixth grade and at the university level.
