KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP) says Chinese mining company MCC will launch practical extraction work at Mes Ainak copper mine based on a new draft as soon as possible.
MoMP wrote on its X page that MCC would expedite its mining activities at the copper mine in Logar province.
With implementation of this plan, practical work will be started soon and this project would help improve people’s economy.
Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum Shahabuddin Delawar also told a meeting in this regard that the project should start soon.
MCC won the contract in 2008 and is expected to invest around three billion dollars to explore and develop the copper mine, possibly the world’s second largest.
