KABUL (Pajhwok): The Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs wants Turkey to cooperate on issues related to refugees and create visa facilities for Afghan businessmen.

Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi issued the call at a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Afghanistan Cihad Erginay here.

A government statement quoted Erginay as saying: “I have been happy working with the Islamic Emirate for the past two and half years and our priority has always been happiness and prosperity for Afghans.”

That was why Turkey had cooperated with Afghanistan in various sectors in  past, and continued to do so, the ambassador added.

The diplomat believed Turkey’s assistance to and cooperation with Afghanistan would further grow in the future.

He noted the annual bilateral trade volume between Afghanistan and Turkey had reached 300 million dollars.

He voiced optimism that the level of trade between the two countries would exceed 1 billion dollars in the future.

Erginay said he had always encouraged Turkish businessmen to invest in Afghanistan.

Hanafi said that the caretaker government desired to expand ties with Turkey in political, economic, commercial and education fields.

He said: “ We hope for more visa facilities for Afghan traders. IEA supports Turkish investments in various sectors in Afghanistan.”

Hanafi hoped economic and development projects would be carried out in Afghanistan to create job opportunities for youth and enable them to take part in the development of the country.

He urged Turkey to cooperate with his country on the issues facing Afghan refugees, the statement concluded.
