Ghazni’s Rashidan district lacks adequate health services

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Some residents of Rashidan district of southern Ghazni province say the only health center in their area could not cater to the needs of the population.

The residents say they could not take their patients to the provincial capital due to economic problems.

Haji Abbas, a tribal elder of the district, told Pajhwok Afghan News that there was only one health center in the district which could not provide services to all the people as it lacked facilities.

He said: “We are forced to go to Ghazni city hospital, the government and related institutions should solve health related problems of the people in our district”.

Momin, another resident, said they did not have access to proper health services and asked the government to address this problem.

He told Pajhwok: “There is neither a proper facility to treat patients nor proper means to transport them to the city.”

According to him, sometimes patients lose their lives on the way to hospital due to bad roads and urged the government to solve these problems.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rasool Khan Nazari, Public Health director, acknowledged the problems mentioned by Rashidan district residents.

However, he told Pajhwok there were two other small health centers in Rashidan district and his department was trying to provide health facilities to all districts of Ghazni in coordination with health institutions.

In addition to Rashidan district, people in many other districts are complaining about similar problems and they urge the caretaker government to take measures for solving these problems.

Rashidan district is situated 50 kilometers northwest of the provincial capital and encompasses around 100 big and small villages.
