JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Customs officials at Torkham crossing in eastern Nangarhar province have prevented the smuggling of 19 pieces of historic relics and chromite stones to Pakistan, an official said on Tuesday.
Arafat Muhajir, information officer at Torkham town, told Pajhwok Afghan News the chromite stones and artifacts were loaded in a truck en route to Pakistan
He said the truck’s driver has been arrested and the artifacts handed over to Torkham Information and Culture General Management.
It comes a day after 49,000 US dollars were prevented from being smuggled to Pakistan at Torkham town.
