5 new historic sites discovered in Logar: Samim

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Five New historic sites have been discovered in central Logar province, an official said on Wednesday.

Logar Information and Cultural Department Director Rafiullah Samim told Pajhwok Afghan News the new historic sites have been discovered in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, Khoshi, Baraki Barak and Charkh districts.

He said the new sites have been recognized as historic in the survey conducted by the Ministry of Information and Cultural Affairs.

Samim said these places could be dated back to the times before the advent of Islam.

Mohammad Ashraf, a cultural activist in Logar, said that information ministry should register the newly discovered places formally as historic sites in the country.

He stressed historic places should be maintained, protected and secured.

According to the provincial Information and Cultural Affairs Department 13 historic sites and six monuments are registered with them in Logar.
