Karzai not allowed to travel to 3 countries: Shahzada Massoud

KABUL (Pajhwok): Sources say former president Hamid Karzai has not been allowed to travel to three countries, but the caretaker government is yet to comment on the matter.

Shahzada Massoud, a close aide of Karzai, said: “When Karzai sahib returned to the country from UK, three more countries officially invited him, but unfortunately he was denied permission to travel.”

“As far as family visits are concerned, Afghans come every day, their documents are checked by security forces and they are allowed to enter after that,” he added.

Karzai was also not permitted to meet a seven-member Iranian delegation that recently visited Kabul, TOLOnews quoted a source as saying.

On Wednesday, the former president’s office said Hamid Karzai met with Japanese ambassador in Kabul Takashi Okada and both sides discussed the need for girls’ education and women’s work.

Karzai also called national understanding necessary for lasting peace and stability in the country.

The caretaker government has not yet commented on Karzai’s travel and Shahzada Massoud’s remarks.
