Man gunned down in Mazar-i-Sharif

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Unknown gunmen shot and killed a man in this capital city of northern Balkh province last night, police said on Thursday.

The murder took place in the first security district of Mazar-i-Sharif, said Balkh police spokesman Mohammad Asif Waziri.

He identified the slain person as Faiz Mohammad and said no one had been arrested so far, but the incident was being investigated.

Waziri also rejected media reports as false that a former officer of the Ministry of Interior had been killed in Balkh.
