KABUL (Pajhwok): UNESCO says it is willing to cooperate with the Ministry of Higher Education of Afghanistan in improving the capacity of teachers and other areas that need enhancement.
In a statement, MoHE said UNESCO head of education Antony Tom met with Dr Lotfullah Kharkhwa, deputy minister of higher education.
Khairkhwa said in the meeting that the Ministry of Higher Education by taking into account its resources established research assistantships in educational institutions and allocated special budget for research projects in the past two years.
He said the needs of the country’s educational institutions included equipping laboratories, building libraries, increasing capacity of teachers in scientific and academic fields, professional development centers for teachers and other areas.
He asked the UNESCO head of education to cooperate with MoHE in these areas.
The UNESCO official said his agency was willing to cooperate with and support MoHE.
He said their organization could currently help in improving the abilities of teachers, creating national and international journals and other departments.
