KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan ambassador in Islamabad has asked Pakistan’s special representative for Afghanistan to reopen the Torkham crossing as soon as possible.
The Afghan embassy wrote on its X account that Ambassador Sardar Ahmad Shakib met Asif Durani, the special envoy of Pakistan, on the Torkham gate closure and relevant issues.
It added the problems of travelers, patients and traders resulting from the closure of the main crossing between the two countries were discussed at the meeting.
Shakib noted as the closure of the crossing point was affecting both countries, the government of Pakistan should reopen it as soon as possible.
Similarly, Durrani also said they understood the common problems being faced by both sides due to closure of the crossing.
He urged caretaker Pakistani government to reopen the key crossing at the earliest possible, according to the Afghan embassy.
