PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): India have humbled Pakistan in their rain-affected Super Four match of the Asia Cup in Colombo on reserve day.
Magnificent tons by experienced batters Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, both staying not out, powered India to a resounding 228-run win on Monday.
Literally putting Pakistani pacers and spinners to the sword, Kohli smacked 122 while Rahul chipped in with 111. They forged a 233 runs partnership to spur their side to 356 for two.
With their morale sky-high, the Indian bowlers restricted the opposition to 128 for eight in 32 overs. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah could not bat because of injuries.
Spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who claimed five scalps for 25, was the pick of Indian bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah earlier dismissed Imamul Haq and Hardik Pandya removed skipper Babar Azam.
Following heavy rain on Sunday and early Monday, India resumed their innings on 147 for two on the reserve day and piled up a massive total without losing any wicket.
In chasing the target, Pakistani batsmen were left clueless by India’s intelligent bowling. The Pakistani top order collapsed like a house of cards.
