Newly-married girl stabbed to death in Faryab

MAINMANA (Pajhwok): A newly-married woman has been stabbed to death by her husband in Maimana city, the capital of northern Faryab province, an official said on Wednesday.

Damla Mahawez, crime branch police chief, identified the victim as 20-year-old Shukria, a resident of Yakabagh village falling in the jurisdiction of 7th police district. She was stabbed to death by her husband Abdul Qadir.

He said: “Shukria was going to her mother’s house and her spouse followed her and killed her with a knife.”

He said Shukria was killed due to family c problems as the couple had been in argument for long.

Mohammad Kazeem, a resident of the area, blamed domestic violence for the murder and said six months ago Abdul Qadir entered a dispute with his mother in law and as a result he was wounded with a knife.
