JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A son has axed his father to death in the Dara-i-Noor district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Wednesday.
Police spokesman Abdul Basir Zabuli told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Waigal area of the district on Tuesday afternoon after a dispute between the man and his son.
He identified the killer as a young man named Alam, who axed his father Taj Mohammad to death.
The police spokesman added: “Mohammad was seriously injured and evacuated to the district hospital, where he succumbed to his severe injuries.”
He said the killer managed to escape the area but efforts were being for his arrest by the district security forces.
Shakeel Ahmad, a resident of the area, told Pajhwok the father and son had long been squabbling.
He said the family was poor and all its members were illiterate.
Dara-i-Noor is a remote mountainous district of Nangarhar, where many residents still do not have access to education and other basic facilities.
