PESHAWAR: (Pajhwok): Three suspected Islamic State-Khorasan (IS-K) fighters have been killed in an exchange of fire on the outskirts of Peshawar, officials claim.
The Counter-Terrorism Department said it had received information about IS-K militants planning to carry out attacks in Khazana area.
A CTD statement said on Friday: “As soon as a special team reached Goye area, the militants fired at them.” In the ensuing exchange of fire, three suspected fighters were killed.
The statement said five to six militants escaped. The police also recovered three Kalashnikovs, magazines, bullets, a torch, two batteries and three hand grenades from the spot.
In a separate statement CTD said all the three suspects killed in the exchange of fire were Afghan nationals -- identified as Mohammad Arif and Mohammad, residents of Kunar province, and Shamsur Rehman from Nangarhar.
