JALALABAD/ MEHTHALAM (Pajhwok): Three people have been killed and nine others wounded in separate traffic accidents in eastern Nangarhar and Laghman provinces.
Nangarhar police spokesman Abdul Basir Zabuli told Pajhwok Afghan News a Saracha-type vehicle crashed into a corolla car in Abdul Khel area of Khiwa district on Saturday morning.
He said one woman was killed and six others were wounded in the accident, which he blamed on reckless driving.
He added traffic and security forces of Kuz Kunar district reached the scene on time and evacuated the injured to the district clinic for treatment. The injured were said to be in stable condition.
Jamshid, an eyewitness of the accident, told Pajhwok the road was narrow in the area and the drivers tried to overtake each other.
Separately, two traffic accidents occurred in Laghman province.
Police spokesman Yunas Yousafzai told Pajhwok a pick-up vehicle flipped over in Khirokhel area of Qarghayi district on Saturday morning around 10:00am.
He said one person lost his life and three others were injured in the accident.
He added packed mazda-type truck hit a person and killed him in Alingar district.
