KABUL (Pajhwok): Eleven members of the national taekwondo, wushu and judo teams have left for china to participate in the Asian Games, the Afghanistan National Olympic Committee (NOC) said on Saturday.
The NOC and General Directorate of Sports wrote on X the eleven Afghan athletes left for Hangzhou in the eastern province of Zhejiang to participate in the games, the biggest event since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The committee said that five taekwondo athletes Mohsin Rezaei, Bijan Sadrzadeh, Hikmatullah Zain, Omid Sahak and Ali Akbar Amiri will participate in the competitions hosted by China.
It said two judo players, Kamaluddin and Faisal, and four Wushu players, Muhammad Karim Faqiri, Majid Rasouli, Muhammad Khalid Hotak and Nusratullah Habibi, will participate in the competitions.
It added China is hosting the Asian Games scheduled to commence on September 23, in which more than 100 athletes from Afghanistan will participate in 17 different sports
