Paktia produces 317 tonnes of honey in 6 months

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): About 317 tonnes of honey has been produced in the first half of the current solar year in southeastern Paktia province, an official said on Tuesday.

Najibullah Mehrabi, an official of the agriculture department, told Pajhwok Afghan News last year’s rains had badly affected the beekeeping business.

But 317 tonnes of honey had been produced in the province in the first six months of t2023, compared to 10.5 tonnes during the same period last year.

There were 345 beekeeping farms in Paktia and this year they had sold 15,000 boxes of bees, Mehrabi informed.

The Agriculture Department says beekeeping and honey production has a long history in Paktia, which has been exporting the product to Arab nations and other countries.
