Iran not a safe haven for Afghanistan opponents: Murtazawi

KABUL (Pajhwok): Iran’s deputy ambassador in Kabul says his country always stands by the Afghan nation and is not a safe haven for Afghanistan’s opponents.

Haj and Religious Affairs Minister Sheikh Maulvi Noor Mohammad Saqib met with Iran’s deputy ambassador Syed Hassan Murtazawi and discussed with him strengthening of religious and cultural relations between the two countries.

Saqib said: “Iran is our friend and neighbor and we have close ties in many other areas besides religious affairs and we should strengthen these relations further.”

He added good coordination existed in relations between the two countries and the Islamic Emirate wanted to make this coordination stronger and wider and the two countries should share experiences in different fields.

Saqib said all Islamic countries, especially neighboring countries, were in great need of unity and brotherhood at this special time. “A good example is relationship between Afghanistan and Iran”.

The deputy ambassador of Iran said Afghanistan and Iran were Islamic countries and had historical relations with each other, so they should work together to strengthen these relations.

"Iran always stands by the nation of Afghanistan and Iran is not a place for the opponents of Afghanistan."

He said necessary facilities had been created for Afghan refugees living in Iran in all religious and cultural matters.
