SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Acting Education Minister Maulvi Habibullah Agha has said the education of youth could save Afghanistan from reliance on others.

Inaugurating a school building in Aqcha district of northern Jawzjan province yesterday, he said Afghanistan would not need to hire services of foreigners if the country’s youth were educated in modern sciences.

He emphasized meeting the needs of education and said developed nations reached the sky through technology.

He said technology had progressed in today’s era, but the Afghans lagged behind and even had no proper roads and electricity.

He stressed unity among the people and said that if Afghan youths were encouraged and provided high quality education, they could contribute significantly to the country’s development.

The school building in Aqcha Namai village consumed $200,000 and was inaugurated by the minister.

Maulvi Mohammad Tahir Jawad, Jawzjan education director, said that the two-storey building of Alhaj Abdullah Safi High School was speed over 1.25 acres of land and had the capacity to accommodate 1500 students.

Local residents and tribal elders welcomed the construction of the school building and asked businessmen and officials of the Islamic Emirate to pay more attention to the education sector.
