ATLANTA (Pajhwok): Islamabad has once claimed terrorists use Afghanistan’s soil for attacks inside Pakistan.

Interim Prime Minister Anwar Ul Haq Kakar made the claim in his address to the UN General Assembly on Friday.

IS-K and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan militants used Afghan territory for attacks in Pakistan, Kakar alleged, asking Kabul to take necessary measures to prevent such incursions.

While condemning the incidents, he said Pakistan had asked Afghanistan cooperate on putting an end to these attacks.

Stability in Pakistan was necessary for peace in Afghanistan, he remarked, making a pitch for support from the interim Afghan administration.

The prime minister said: “We support continued aid to the poor and needy people in Afghanistan, where women and girls are facing numerous challenges.”

Pakistan has made similar claims in the past as well, but the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan vehemently deny such allegations as groundless.

Also on Friday, Pakistan’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan Asif Durrani met Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul.

Muttaqi stressed: “Security issues must be addressed through joint committees and main routes must not be closed for political and security reasons.”

Pakistan and Afghanistan, being neighbouring Muslim countries, should refrain from trading blame, which widened the gap between them, Muttaqi believed.

He insisted the IEA policy towards the region and neighbours was based on good intentions and sincerity. It was trying not to allow anyone to spoil relations between two countries, he said.

Both sides agreed on taking effective and timely measures to resolve their issues and prevent any kind of negative incidents from happening in the future.
