MAIMANA (Pajhwok): The Municipality of Maimana, the capital of northwestern Faryab province, has announced 60 percent increment to its employees’ salary and increased their working hours as well.
The Municipality employees expressed happiness over surge in their salary and said from the past one month they worked additional two hours part time .
They said in the past their working hours were from 8:00am to 4:00pm and received salary ranging from 5,000 afs to 12,000 afs but from the past one month they work from 7:00am to 5:00pm.
Abdul Jalil, one of the workers of municipality, said in the past he got 5,000 afs salary which was not enough for his expenses and faced huge problems but now he was happy for the increment in his salary. He said that last month he got 8,000 afs salary.
Ghulam Nabi, 60, a sweeper worker of the municipality, earlier had 5,500 afs salary which was not enough for his family’s expenditures.
He, however, said that the was thrilled that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan considered the municipality employees and increased their salary.
In the past we did not get good salary, but since I worked for my city and my people I was not feeling tired, now that government has increased our salary I am really happy with it,” he said.
Nazar Mohammad, the cleanliness section employee of Maimana Municipality, said in the past he got 6,200 afs salary. “Daily I worked for more than eight hours cleaning roads and streets and the salary was not enough for my monthly expanses.”
“I am really happy that I got last month in addition to my 10,000 monthly salary, 15,000 of my part time wages for the past five months of the ongoing year,” he said.
Mustafar Khalilzada, one of the municipality’s clerk, work against 8,000 afs from the past five years also complained that it was not enough for his monthly expenditures.
But now he was happy with his 60 percent salary increment and said it would help him a lot with his monthly expenditures.
Engineer Zabihullah Behzad, director third Municipality District of Maimana City, said he worked in the 5th grad and got 9,700 afs salary, but due to the Municipality administration efforts there was surged in the staff salaries and now he got 14,000 afs monthly.
Maimana Mayor Damullah Gul Ahmad Mubashir, said Maimana Municipality has 193 employees and their salaries had been increased by 60 percent. In addition, their working hours are also increased by two hours.
He told the municipality employees: “Earlier your working hours were from 8:00am to 4:00pm but now there is 60 percent increase in your salaries and two hours increase in your working hours, now you have to work from 7:00 am to 5:00pm.”
He said serving the masses and society was like worship and nobody should commit laziness in performing their duties.
