KABUL (Pajhwok): Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and President Vladimir Putin’s adviser Vladimir Adolgrif Ruslan Saeeduich have discussed the need for further expanding political and trade ties between Afghanistan and the Russian Federation.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, Foreign Ministry’s spokesman. wrote on his X handle that Muttaqi held talks with the adviser to the Russian leader.

They discussed strengthening bilateral political and trade relations, agreeing enhanced ties were in the interest of both countries.

They also emphasised on taking practical steps towards bolstering cooperation in trade and other sectors.

Muttaqi highlighted IEA’s achievements in terms of counter narcotics, rehabilitation of addicts, comprehensive security and border controls.

Saeeduich welcomed the minister and his delegation and hailed the impressive achievements made by the interim Afghan administration.

He expressed Russia’s readiness for cooperation in various fields and insisted on painting the real image of Afghanistan to the world.

The two sides also conferred on issues such as climate change, education, trade, agriculture, industry and sports. They also called for strengthening people-to-people contacts.

The Moscow format, working for national reconciliation in Afghanistan, consists of Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

The Moscow-Format meeting this time will be held in the Kazan city of Tatarstan on September 29.

Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan says the meeting will discuss the fight against terrorism and narcotics and the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan.
