11-year-old child killed in Jawzjan mortar shell blast

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): An 11-year-old child has been killed in a mortar shell blast in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Thursday.

Police spokesman Qari Abdul Sattar Halimi said the incident took place in the Khan Tepa village of Qarqin district on Wednesday.

Halimi said Azizullah, 11, lost his live after he hit the unexploded shell with a stone and it went off.

According to Halimi, there are unexploded ammunition left from the past wars in some areas of the districts and they are trying to clear these areas.
