KABUL (Pajhwok): Attendees of the latest Moscow-format meeting on Afghanistan have commended the Islamic Emirate’s crackdown on the Islamic State.
They welcomed IEA’s efforts in the fight against the terrorist outfit in the Kazan Declaration, which was unanimously passed on Friday.
“The parties noted with concern the difficult security situation in Afghanistan due to the intensification of the activities of terrorist groups, primarily ISIS,” the declaration said.
According to TASS news agency, the participants urged the interim Afghan administration to take similar action against all terrorist groups.
They called on IEA to take effective measures to dismantle, eliminate and prevent the presence of all terrorist groups in Afghanistan and to stop the country becoming a hot spot of terrorism and instability.
Seeking to spur efforts at promoting national reconciliation in in the war-hit country, the Moscow Format on Afghanistan was set up in 2017.
The platform brings together Russia, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Its previous meeting took place in Moscow in November 2022 in the absence of IEA representatives. However, Kabul was represented at the Kazan huddle
