UAE’s UN mission asks IEA to reverse curbs on women, girls

KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Arab Emirate (UAE) in a joint statement to the UN General Assembly discussed the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan on behalf of 80 co-sponsors.

The UAE mission to the UN wrote on X: “Today in #UNGA 3C, the UAE delivered a joint statement on the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan on behalf of 80 co-sponsors.”

It wrote the caretaker government’s edicts against women and girls’ rights contradicted Islamic values and universal human rights.

The UEA mission urged the IEA to immediately reverse its edicts that abuse the human rights and freedoms of women and girls because their contribution was crucial to social and economic development of Afghan society.

The caretaker government always says it is committed to upholding the rights of all citizens, including women.
