TRINKOT (Pajhwok): A fundraising drive for earthquake victims in western Afghanistan has been launched in Trinkot, the capital of central Uruzgan province, an official said on Sunday.
Information and Cultural Affairs Director Qari Agha Walli told Pajhwok Afghan News fund raising boxes had been set in main public places and would be taken to government institutions buildings to collect funds.
He said the fund raising process by shopkeepers and public had been started today.
Qureshi said this charity fund would be delivered to Herat province and would be spent for the assistance of earthquake victims.
Local residents in Uruzgan have pledged to donate blood besides financial support to earthquake victims.
Mujeebullah, the resident of Tarinkot, said they shared the sorrow and grief of earthquake damage and losses with the people of Herat and were ready donating blood and cooperate in rescue operation.
According to Disaster Management Authority 2,053 people are killed and over 9,200 others injured. 1,320 houses completely destroyed.
