KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Monday announced two million afghanis in aid to victims of a deadly earthquake in western Herat province.
Additionally, ACB staff and national players are collecting assistance for the affected families in a transparent and organised manner.
Several quakes struck Herat and neighbouring provinces on Saturday, destroying hundreds of houses and leaving 2053 people dead and injured.
The Natural Disaster Management Authority said over 1,320 homes had been destroyed and most of the casualties happened in Zinda Jan and Ghorian districts of the province.
ACB wrote on its Facebook page the decision was made by its leadership and board members.
The ACB said it was also encouraging aid organisations, national businessmen and investors to contribute to quakerelief efforts.
