Astana sends 1,659 tonnes aid to quake-hit Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): Kazakhstan has sent 1,659 tonnes of humanitarian aid for the devastating earth-quake victims in Afghanistan.

The aid included foodstuff, tents, clothing and bedclothes to help Afghanistan cope with the consequences of the devastating earthquake, Kazinform reported.

At least 45 staff members of the Kazakh Emergency Situations Ministry have already left for the quake-devastated Herat province to join search and rescue efforts.

In Herat, a temblor killed more than 2,500 people and injured as many others on Saturday. Most of the casualties occurred in Zinda Jan and Ghorian districts.
